RIG-PCS have reported a series of publication that the generation of secondary plasma has very low continuous emission background and additional characteristics favorable for spectrochemical analysis. Further experiments reveal that the shock wave generated by the primary plasma is responsible for the formation of the secondary plasma as well as the excitation of the target atoms. Meanwhile, we – the researchers- have also developed its application for in-situ analysis of large metallic surfaces in industry. In the continuing effort to deepen our understanding of the dynamical process of secondary plasma formation as well as to broaden its range of application and improve its practically including its portability, we are currently undertaking the following major projects:
- Dynamical study of the mechanism for laser plasma generation at the surrounding gas pressure ranging from 1 Torr to 1 atm. In this study, we seek to verify the shock wave plasma model that we have roposed earlier, using a specially developed method obtained by combining the time-resolved spectroscopy measurement of emission spectra with the simultaneous detection of density jump by means of rainbow interferometer. In addition to neutral atom emission, the contribution of recombination process to the emission spectrum will also be investigated.
- Extension of its application on solid targets to liquid samples for the purpose of environmental or pollution monitoring and evaluation urgently needed by this country. This project is being carried out along with the continued improvement of the in-situ analysis using small chamber for the purpose of industrial inspection.
- The study of thin film production using laser ablation technique and develop the new method for powder analysis using confinement system on glass chamber. This project is carried out to produce a good thin film production and to make an analysis about plasma for thin film.
- Mineral, rock, concrete, fossil, gemstones, meteorite, wood, foods, metals and medical plants analysis.
In computer engineering field, we also did some researches in the topics such as application by using minimum systems, laser applications as instrumentations, renewable energy by using piezoelectric, and so forth. We emphasized the use of recycle materials as the basic science experiment tools in order to drive the eagerness of primary and secondary students in sciences. As for further improvement, we also tried to combine the Bible study and simple science experiment as a part of learning process in knowing God’s creation and the love of science among children of age 3 to 10 years old. The guidance book for Sunday school teachers was published and sold out within 3 months. Nevertheless, as the intention of good will, the e-book version can be accessed freely via website.
