logo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Research Interest Group (RIG) Food Biotechnology (RIG-Food Biotech) was established in September 2014 at Bina Nusantara University. However, our biotechnological research was started in 2010. RIG-Food Biotech took its place to enhance research activities especially in the field of plant biotechnology for the development of healthy functional foods and medicines. Until 2016, we collaborate with \u0097Food Technology Department of Binus University, Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources Research and Development, and Research Institute for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. RIG-Food Biotech has collected many in vitro herbal plants, such as rodent tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd., from Bogor, Pekalongan, and Medan), cat\u2019s whiskers (Orthosiphon aristatus), red betel (Piper crocatum Ruiz &amp; Pav.), and banana plant (Musa sp.).<\/p>\n<p>Currently, we are focused on:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Exploring the potency of a wide range of Indonesian herbal and root vegetable plants.<\/li>\n<li>Screening and increasing the quality of herbal and root vegetable plants for developing them into functional foods and drugs.<\/li>\n<li>Obtaining the superior mutant clones of rodent tuber by applying biotechnological methods. These mutant clones will be developed as functional healthy drinks and medicines for the prevention and treatment of cancer, respectively.<\/li>\n<li>Obtaining the superior mutant clones of root vegetable plants by applying biotechnological methods.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Our team:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dr. Nesti F.
