Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC) hosted a Visiting Professor agenda in collaboration with the International Office of BINUS University from January 15 to January 19. This agenda aimed to exchange <\/span>expertise<\/span> and knowledge in the intellectual property of life sciences. The professors invited were Prof. Dr. <\/span>iur<\/span>. Claudia Seitz, M.A., Executive <\/span>Master in Law<\/span> & AI, a full-time professor at the Private University in the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL), and Dr. <\/span>iur<\/span>. Boris Riemer, a lecturer at the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg Cooperative State University.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

January 18, 2024<\/em> \u2013 On Thursday morning, the Bioinformatics & Data Science Research Center (BDSRC) <\/span>facilitated<\/span> another roundtable discussion with faculty members from the Business Law Department and School of Computer Science. <\/span>This time Prof. Dr. <\/span>iur<\/span>.<\/span> Claudia Seitz shared a presentation on the topic \u201cThe New E<\/span>uropean <\/span>U<\/span>nion (EU)<\/span> A<\/span>rtificial <\/span>I<\/span>ntelligence (AI)<\/span> Act as a Model for the Regulation of A<\/span>I<\/span> in Ind<\/span>one<\/span>si<\/span>a?<\/span>\u201d.<\/span> Proposed in April 2021, the EU AI Act is the first law regulating AI in the world. The regulatory framework adopts a risk-based approach, classifying four levels of AI from unacceptable risk to minimal or no risk,<\/span> a<\/span>s <\/span>different le<\/span>ve<\/span>ls<\/span> of risk would require different rules.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The afternoon session was a meeting with representatives from PT. Mega Medica Pharmaceuticals (MMP) <\/span>Mr. <\/span>Guntur Berlian and <\/span>Mr. <\/span>Asep<\/span> Aripin<\/span>, Masyarakat Ikan <\/span>Gabus<\/span> Indonesia (MIGI) <\/span>Mr. <\/span>Yunan <\/span>Rhedian<\/span>, Universitas <\/span>Jenderal<\/span> Soedirman<\/span> Mr. <\/span>Taufik <\/span>Budhi<\/span> Pramono<\/span>, and National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) <\/span>Miss <\/span>Erma <\/span>Primanita<\/span>. <\/span>Similar to<\/span> the day prior, they discussed the framework of how sequence data can be protected through the different intellectual property tools as guidance to <\/span>establish<\/span> an intellectual property body but on fisheries.<\/span> <\/span>Novelty and non-obviousness of the subject matter were also highlighted to be the requirements to qualify for intellectual property protection.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
