The research objective was to study the blind spot technology in general and to properly design a blind spot based on Atmega 168. This research implements information retrieval method associated with blind spot technology over the internet and through books that support excellent designs of blind spot. This research results in a design of blind spot detection system based on micro-controller Atmega 168 that functions in calculating the distance between vehicles on the toll roads and on common roads that is able to be activated manually as well as runs alternately, using the interface function with timer function. It can be concluded that the sensor works properly when the field surface of the sensor area is large and flat enough. The speed of vehicles passing the sensor coverage area affects the capture distance of the sensor
